Geography follows the head office, and so the three US leaders hire mostly at home: OpenAI 79% in the US, Anthropic 75%, and xAI 71%. Mistral does the same from Paris, since 63% of its roles sit in France. The two smaller challengers, however, are far more international. Cohere is based in Toronto, yet it splits its roles across Canada (40%), the US (27%) and the UK (15%), while ElevenLabs is the most spread of all. One thing is nonetheless shared: fully remote roles have almost vanished. Indeed, only xAI still hires them at scale, at 21%, and every other company ties 98% or more of its openings to an office.
How to read: each bar shows where a company's roles are based, by macro-region. Every bar sums to 100%. "Rest of world" groups Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. "No fixed base" is the few roles advertised with no country. The fully remote figure on the right is a separate measure. It is the share of roles that are 100% remote, with no office. Roles that only offer remote as an option are not counted there. They sit under their office region instead. Hover a segment to see the job families a company recruits in that region.
